Kushner JV Finishes Season Strong With Win Over Heschel

Sophomore Isaac Rosenberg had an excellent game for Kushner, finishing with 18 points, 5 assists and 2 steals, while shooting 4/5 from three.

At the start of the season, the Heschel Heat JV team faced the Kushner Cobras. Kushner suffered a humiliating 63-47 loss, with Heschel’s captain, Yonah Boltan (’27), scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while Kushner’s Ben Kimmel (’28) scored 23 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and blocking five shots.

Following that defeat, Kushner fell short in their next eight games. The Cobras had one final chance to get in the victory column with a home game rematch against Heschel at noon on Sunday, January 12.

The contest was quite close throughout. Each team demonstrated how much they had improved from the start of the season to the present, with both coaches doing fantastic jobs to guide their squads. At halftime, Heschel was up 25-24, but in the end, Kushner won 53-49, with everyone contributing.

Isaac Rosenberg (’27) had an impressive game, finishing with 18 points, 5 assists, 2 steals, while shooting 4/5 from three. Nathaniel Abromov (’28) handled the point extremely well, and scored 11 points, tallied 7 assists, grabbed 7 rebounds, and had 3 steals. Kimmel also had a good game with 6 points, 3 blocks, and 10 rebounds.

Kushner was in foul trouble throughout the game and their depth enabled them to come out on top despite that. Kudos to Kushner’s coach, Nicholas Lawrie, who helped his team to the victory.

This was both Kushner and Heschel’s final games of the year, and both teams finished 1-9.
