Friendship Circles Honors Volunteers

The Friendship Circle hosted their Volunteer Evening of Appreciation on May 30 at Congregation Beth Aaron in Teaneck.  A beautiful dessert buffet welcomed everyone into the hall, followed by a heartwarming program.  Mr. Joel Vidal of Tenafly, a parent of a child with autism, spoke about the impact the Friendship Circle has had on his entire family.  An all new video depicting the work of the FC in Bergen County was shown.  Mrs. Zeesy Grossbaum, Director of the Friendship Circle, addressed the crowd and Coach Mike Dube of Dube Zone presented the Volunteer of the Year award.  Past school presidents were honored and received gifts and new presidents were announced for the upcoming school year.

Awards were presented by Senator Loretta Weinberg to volunteers who had given at least 25 hours of their time to children with special needs.  The grand finale of the evening was Richard Bernstein, a lawyer who has been blind since birth and has run 17 marathons and completed the ironman competition.  Volunteers, their parents, and the families of children with special needs all left on a high, eagerly anticipating another amazing year at FC starting with end of summer camp at the end of August.
