The Jewish Link sat down with Alexander Rand, founder of My Therapy Coach, to discuss the company and the therapy services it offers.
Alexander, can you tell us what inspired you to start My Therapy Coach?
The idea came from seeing clients struggle to bridge the gap between therapy sessions. Life doesn’t pause between appointments, and people often need extra support to navigate challenges in real time. My Therapy Coach provides that bridge, offering brief coaching sessions—15 minutes at a time—that empower clients to make meaningful changes in their daily lives. These sessions can be done through Zoom, phone or even text, and clients can choose to meet once, twice or three times a week. It’s all about helping people feel supported and capable, even in life’s messiest moments.
After discussing the idea with my friend Heshy Spira, we both felt confident that this concept had the potential to make a huge difference for so many people. Heshy was so excited about the vision that he even decided to personally invest in making it a reality. He was also able to apply his business knowledge and experience in helping me work through some of the challenges and roadblocks that come with starting a new business.
What makes My Therapy Coach unique compared to traditional therapy or coaching services?
We’re not therapy in the traditional sense. We’re here to complement therapy—to be the “extra boost” when life throws you a curveball. What’s really unique is our structure. The 15-minute sessions are focused and flexible, allowing clients to address immediate challenges without a long commitment. Plus, I personally oversee our team to ensure we maintain the highest standards of professionalism and care. Our therapists also offer specialized coaching, like health and fitness support, helping clients stay on track with diets, exercise routines and gym accountability. And, for clients already in therapy, our coaches communicate and collaborate with their current therapists to reinforce and support the work they’re already doing. That teamwork creates a cohesive experience for the client.
Why should people trust My Therapy Coach?
Trust is at the core of what we do. I’ve handpicked every therapist on our team, and I’m directly involved in providing oversight and guidance. We also operate with the utmost respect for confidentiality—your sessions are private and secure. Beyond that, our success stories speak for themselves. We’ve helped clients navigate everything from parenting challenges to dating dilemmas, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Knowing that we’re approachable through quick, focused sessions also builds a sense of reliability for our clients.
Is there anyone My Therapy Coach may not be a good fit for?
Great question! My Therapy Coach is not designed for individuals in crisis or those needing intensive therapy. For example, someone struggling with severe mental health issues would need more comprehensive, specialized care. We’re here for people who need support with day-to-day challenges—the kind that can derail you if left unchecked but don’t require long-term therapy to address. That said, our model can also work for people who aren’t in therapy at all but appreciate a coaching approach for handling life’s hurdles in a quick, focused manner.
Can you share some examples of the types of clients who’ve benefited from My Therapy Coach?
We’ve worked with clients seeking help with parenting challenges, and they’ve seen real improvements in communication and setting boundaries. Others have used our sessions to prepare for important business meetings or work on emotional regulation. We’ve supported people navigating addiction recovery, offering them strategies to stay on track. On the health side, we offer coaching to help clients stick with fitness plans, manage diet goals, and feel more confident in their routines. What’s exciting is that some of these successes came from clients who weren’t in therapy but found value in our unique coaching model. It’s amazing to see how this approach can meet such a wide range of needs.
Is the cost worth it? What’s the value proposition here?
100% worth it—and I’m not just saying that because I’m biased! (OK, maybe a little.) Seriously, though, investing in your mental well-being has ripple effects. Our sessions are affordable, accessible and designed to meet you where you’re at. We’ve had clients tell us how their coaching sessions helped them tackle tough parenting moments, approach a big business pitch with confidence, or even navigate emotional roadblocks. Others have used our coaching to stay consistent with fitness goals or build accountability around their health routines. The impact doesn’t just stop with feeling better; it spills over into productivity, happiness and stronger relationships.
How do you ensure confidentiality?
Confidentiality is a non-negotiable for us. All sessions are conducted via secure platforms, and our therapists are trained to uphold strict privacy standards. Clients can trust that their information stays between them and their coach. As the founder, I make sure that this is not just policy but practice. In a world where privacy can feel elusive, we’re unwavering in our commitment to it. When applicable, we also coordinate with a client’s existing therapist in a way that ensures all communication is handled securely and respectfully.
