On Friday night, Feb. 7, Chabad of West Orange will host a special Shabbat dinner in honor of Yud Shevat, a significant date in the Chabad-Lubavitch calendar.
The Shabbat dinner will feature a keynote address by Rabbi Yitzchak and Naomi Gershovitz, associate rabbi and rebbetzin of Chabad of Tenafly, as well as traditional Shabbat songs, stories and inspiration.
Yud Shevat, which falls this year on Shabbat, Feb. 7-8, commemorates the passing of the previous Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, in 1950, and the ascension of his son-in-law Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of blessed memory as the seventh Rebbe of the Chabad dynasty.
“We invite the entire community to join us for this special Shabbat dinner,” said Rabbi Mendy Kasowitz, director of Chabad of West Orange. “Yud Shevat is a day of renewal and inspiration, and we look forward to sharing its message of hope and resilience with our friends and neighbors.”
The evening will begin with a candle lighting ceremony at 5 p.m., followed by evening services. Dinner will begin approximately 5:45 p.m.
