At Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy of Connecticut (BCHA), one of the most special activities with the younger classes is to host guests in the classrooms. Parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts often visit classes in order to do a fun and special activity with the children.
Recently, Debra Feigenbaum, a grandmother of a kindergarten student, shared that she’s been doing flower arranging for years, even as a teenager, and it became a hobby of hers. She explained how she and her granddaughter Orli, a student in BCHA’s kindergarten, love to prepare flowers together before Shabbat, and she thought it would be a beautiful idea to bring a lesson in flower arranging to the students in Orli’s classroom.
It was a wonderful surprise for Orli to see her ‘Nani’ arrive in her classroom to teach all about flowers. Orli’s teachers, morah Adina and morah Paige, spread the flowers out on the table and the students were able to select the flowers that they wanted to put into their own vases. After they gathered their flowers, Debra helped each individual student arrange their flowers. It was a very sweet moment in the cold of January for the students to bring beautiful flowers home for Shabbat.
