Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

The MTA Lions rolled into Heschel on Wednesday night and silenced the Heat’s Senior Night crowd with a dominant 52-29 win. Even before the game tipped off, Heschel got hit with a technical foul, giving MTA the perfect start as senior guard Jakey Abenaim knocked down a free throw to put the Lions on the board.

MTA set the tone early, with junior Efraim Avramov making a huge statement in the first quarter. He came flying in for a chase-down block, then on the next play, drilled a tough and-1 three-pointer and sank the free throw to complete the four-point play. In the second quarter, junior guard Andi Richman had a highlight sequence of his own—draining a three, then grabbing a huge rebound over Heschel’s center on the same play, before dishing a no-look dime to senior center Josh Treuhaft for an easy layup.

Avramov led the way with 11 points and 6 blocks, while Treuhaft was dominant in the paint with 10 points and 9 boards. Abenaim added 8 points, junior guard Yishai Neiss dropped 7, Richman finished with 5, and junior forward Gavi Engel grabbed 9 rebounds to go with his 4 points.

With the way they played against Heschel, the Lions are looking dangerous at the right time.
