At the third Ma’ayanot x JOWMA event, the fellows had the privilege of hearing from Dr. Danielle Strauss, an ophthalmologist, who gave an in-depth look at the anatomy of the eye. She began by explaining the inner workings of the eye, introducing the students to parts of the eye many people don’t usually think about. After this presentation, she showed students a video of her performing eye surgery, offering a fascinating glimpse into her field and encouraging everyone to ask questions throughout the process. Next, the fellows were divided into groups and had the hands-on experience of dissecting a cow’s eye. Dr. Strauss provided clear instructions, was always supportive and made sure to assist whenever help was needed. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and the students were grateful for the opportunity to try something new and exciting.
