JNF to Celebrate 50th Annual Teaneck Reception

Jewish National Fund (JNF) will host its 50th Annual Teaneck Reception on Monday, December 11, at Congregation Beth Sholom, located at 354 Maitland Avenue, Teaneck.

The guest speaker will be Chanin Kupietzky, an Israeli hero who served in the IDF’s Anti-Terror Special Forces Unit as a sergeant and commander. Kupietzky has dedicated himself to being a champion of Israel, having worked around the world on behalf of Jewish organizations and spreading “Positively Israel” messages. Born and raised in Jerusalem, he is a steward of the city, committed to honoring the memories of all Jewish soldiers whose names appear at Ammunition Hill’s Wall of Honor.

Honorees include founding committee members Helen and Robert B. Levine, Janice and Gerald I. Rosen and Charles W. Shain. Circle of Excellence Award recipients will include Karen Shawn and Keith Breiman, Ellen and Richard Gertler, Janice and Norman Levin and Marcie Eagle and Melvin Reichman.

The Founding Committee honorees will be presented with their awards by Jewish National Fund Chief Executive Officer Russell F. Robinson. Robinson said he “is proud to recognize Teaneck’s founding committee members. It was they who literally helped build the land of Israel. Thank you for helping build yesterday, today for tomorrow.”

According to Robert Levine, education vice president of Jewish National Fund for 50 years, this reception has honored and will continue to honor “local residents who have been supporters of JNF and Israel. The first honoree in 1967 was Mathew Feldman, the first Jewish mayor of the township. Since that date, the Teaneck JNF Council has honored rabbis, Jewish community leaders, political leaders, local Jewish merchants and other outstanding supporters of Israel.”

“I am most proud to see previous Teaneck JNF dinner honorees attend each year to express their ongoing support of Israel and JNF,” Levine added.

Each dinner event earmarks its proceeds for specific projects in Israel. The first event earmarked the funds to plant the Horshim forest not far from Tel Aviv. This year’s proceeds will be dedicated to support JNF’s Ammunition Hill project in Jerusalem in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the city’s reunification. Levine added, “Fifty years—50 amazing Teaneck projects covering the landscape of Israel.”

Rabbi Shalom Baurm of Congregation Keter Torah in Teaneck added that “this is a partnership worthy of celebration. JNF continues to help all of Israel be a place for national and spiritual growth. We should be proud that the Teaneck community stands with such a fundamental organization.”

RSVP by December 4 at jnf.org/teaneck50. A $180 minimum contribution (which includes dinner) is required.

“On behalf of the Township Council, the Township of Teaneck congratulates and extends its best wishes to the Jewish National Fund on its 50th Annual Teaneck Reception. We wish you much success in your endeavors in servicing the community both locally and globally,” said Teaneck Mayor Mohammed Hameeduddin.
