(Courtesy of Project Ezrah) Project Ezrah will hold its seventh annual dinner on December 9, beginning at 8:00 p.m., at Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood.

Ezrah means “help,” a very appropriate term for this organization. Just this past year, nearly 1,000 community members benefitted from its employment services and financial management and assistance, ensuring them meaningful employment, stable homes and a more secure future.

The dinner will begin with a lavish meat buffet and scotch/bourbon tasting bar. There is no assigned seating, allowing guests to enjoy strolling among the many delectable and different stations while connecting with friends. A decadent dessert display will follow the short video and award presentation.

The inaugural Community Chesed Award will be presented to The Keter Torah C.S.S. Security Team. C.S.S. team members work toward making our community stronger and safer. Each member of Keter Torah’s team has a strong commitment to community service and in helping others.

The Ezrah Award will be presented to five couples who have uncompromisingly extended their hands to “help” the community. This year’s honorees are exceptional in that regard.

• Lauren and Zvi Adler, Congregation Rinat Yisrael, are a power couple who never stop in all that they do for their shul and community.
• Dossy and Leo Brandstatter, Congregation Shomrei Torah, are known for always being available when called on, as well as for their many acts of chesed.
• Aviva and Harold Nussbaum, Congregation Beth Aaron, are a couple that always steps up to the plate and consistently hits home runs.
• Nechama and Tuly Polak, Congregation B’nai Yeshurun, are on the home front of our community. Nechama is always a comforting help. Tuly is the “go-to person” for many who rely on his equanimity.
• Chana and Lee Schwartz, Congregation Ahavath Torah, are known for their genial contribution and involvement whenever and wherever they are needed.

To encourage the involvement of younger couples, the organization created a Young Leadership Division, and welcomes couples under 35 years of age to enjoy the evening at a special per-couple cost of $180. Couvert otherwise is $360 per couple.
