Yedei Chesed Ladies’ Day Program Participants Display Artistic Creativity

Capturing Yedei Chesed’s ladies’ day program theme of “Unlocking Individual Greatness,” the walls of the Finkelstein Memorial Library were recently adorned with the artistic expressions and passion of 10 talented women.

The event was open for community viewing and was successful in attracting many of the library’s patrons. Children were treated to cupcake decorating, providing an extra-special addition to their library experience.

As children excitedly decorated their soon-to-be-consumed snack, parents enjoyed a gallery that told a story without words. They encountered an illustration of a happy day. They gazed at a drawing of a hope or dream. And a splash of colors, representing a unique spark of imagination, caught their attention.

Each exhibit affirmed that challenge doesn’t have to stifle potential; these artists’ creativity demonstrated strength in the face of adversity. Underlying the women’s creativity is strength, determination and a desire for expression.

Ronit Hakakian, program coordinator for Yedei Chesed’s ladies’ day program, noted, “Confidence doesn’t always come so easily to the women. Our program focuses on developing life and social skills. Helping these individuals tap into their artistic expression gives them such an important outlet for growth and self-actualization. They were so proud of their work, both individually and collectively. And they were so thrilled to see library patrons appreciating their creativity.”

Chaim Solomon, director of Yedei Chesed’s day services, was tremendously pleased with the outcome of the event. Solomon shared, “Yedei Chesed places a tremendous emphasis on community integration. Programs like this facilitate engagement between women in our program and the broader community, adults and children alike. These events provide growth opportunities for both our women and community members.”

Yedei Chesed’s exhibit will remain in the library for the next month. When visiting the library, please be sure to ask one of the library’s wonderful staff members to direct you to the exhibit.

Please join Yedei Chesed on Sunday, December 3, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Finkelstein Memorial Library, for a special community reception celebrating the achievements of Yedei Chesed’s ladies dayHab. Please contact Hakakian at [email protected] or at (845) 425-0887 ext. 249 for more information.
