The Humble Toast Sportstar Of the Week: Eli Galla

The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Eli Galla as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Yeshivat Noam sixth grader was named a First team all-star at Camp Dovid this summer and is part of the super talented Noam Knights Hockey team. When asked about Galla, Noam Knights Hockey Coach Yaakov Saks told the Jewish Link “Eli is a pleasure to coach. He is well liked by all teammates and is always willing to go the extra mile in practice. Despite being a 6th grader, Eli plays with no fear and has made huge strides and will be a key defenseman for years to come on the Noam Knights. I know that Eli will continue to grow on and off the court and help his teammates to do so as well.”

Eli, congratulations on being recognized as this week’s sportstar of the week. Who is your role model and why?

My Dad because no matter how busy his schedule is, he always finds time to practice with me and helps me get better. He comes to every single one of my games and cheers me on. Also, my mom who always encourages me to try my hardest and to just enjoy.

What is your favorite sport?

Hockey because it’s fun and the games are loud, exciting, and fast paced. My brothers Ben, Natan and Koby happen to be really good basketball players and I am the hockey player in the family.

What is your earliest sports memory?

BCFL in 3rd grade when I played QB.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Making the Noam Knights hockey team because I get to play for my school.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Ryan Lindgren because he plays defense (like I do) and he scored the game winning goal at my first Rangers game.

What is your pregame routine?

I don’t have a very set routine but I do try to practice backhand clears against the gym wall before the game when possible.

What is your funniest sports memory?

When I slept through the award ceremony in Camp Dovid- my friends ran into my bunk yelling at me to wake up because I won an award.

What do you like to do when you are not playing sports?

Fantasy Football/Hockey, eat burgers and read books.

What is your favorite sports moment?

Going to my first Rangers game with my dad and brothers (Rangers won!)

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Getting a Humble Toast burger!
