As part of the ongoing hilchot tefillin unit at JEC middle school, Rabbi Victor’s class went to the beit midrash to put their knowledge into practice. Boys who currently wear tefillin were paired with boys who will soon be wearing them to demonstrate some of the practicalities of this mitzvah. Rabbi Victor circulated to give pointers on placement of tefillin and other important details. It was interesting to see the various minhagim on how to wrap tefillin with each boy serving both as student and teacher for his family’s specific minhag.
