Technology integrator, Jenny Kritchevski, of Tenafly Chabad Academy has been facilitating weekly lunch and learns for the faculty of the school. The goal of these mini professional development sessions is to give teachers the tools and resources in order to increase student engagement.
This week’s session was on Newsela, an instructional content platform that is especially beneficial in language arts and social studies classes. This online program provides articles, questions, units of study, activities and pictures on a plethora of topics. The program is designed to stimulate student interest and to improve their knowledge and reading comprehension. Newsela enhances and enriches student learning. Licenses for Newsela were purchased using micro-grant funds from the Tech for Learning Initiative, a program of The Jewish Education Project.
