Last week, MTA attended an incredible debate tournament at Ma’ayanot on the topic of legalizing physician assisted suicide. The team prepared for weeks, with the help of multiple faculty members and rebbeim, including biology and lab instructor Mr. Berenson and maggid shiur Rabbi Cohen, who shared both Torah and science perspectives on the topic. Team members had the opportunity to interact with team members from other schools and took home multiple trophies. Nadav Heller and Binyomin Fox (‘21) won Second Place Team, and Eli Fisher (‘20) and Yosef Flamenbaum (‘21) won Third Place. Nadav Heller also won the award for Second Place Speaker. Overall, it was a consensus among the students that the experience was not just a fun one, but an excellent learning opportunity as well.
