(Courtesy of JNF) Jewish National Fund’s (JNF) Annual Women for Israel Fall event, “The Power of Women,” held on Giving Tuesday attracted 200 invited guests, who also heard from author Anita Diamant.
Diamant is author of the bestseller “The Red Tent,” a novel inspired by a few lines from Genesis that tells the empowering story of Dinah, the often-overlooked only daughter of Jacob and Leah. Diamant has also written non-fiction, women-centered guidebooks on Jewish life and lifecycle events. Diamant’s talk focused on her personal journey as an author and Jewish woman, and the meaningful power women have to impact the lives and people of Israel.
The annual event helped raise vital funds for JNF’s “Billion Dollar Roadmap for the Next Decade.” Collectively, women in the Central New Jersey community helped to raise $260.000, which includes matching funds, provided courtesy of Bob Lembke of Denver, Colorado, and the Gene & Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund, as part of JNF’s “Giving Tuesday” Campaign.
JNF’s “Billion Dollar Roadmap” is an unprecedented campaign focused on investing in Israel’s future. Within it are ambitious goals matched by a strategy for delivering tangible results, leveraging philanthropic returns and engaging the Jewish community for the long term. To ensure these goals come to fruition, JNF launched new task forces and committees to focus on specific initiatives and give donors a meaningful and hands-on way to help the land and people of Israel.
“We are truly grateful for the support of all the women in our community who added their voice to the Power of Women,” said Marci Robinson of Livingston, and JNF’s Central New Jersey Women for Israel co-chair.
Attendees also learned more of JNF’s vision and how it provides a unique voice in building a prosperous and secure future for the land and people of Israel. JNF strives to bring an enhanced quality of life to all of Israel’s citizens and translate these advancements to the world beyond. JNF is “greening” the desert with millions of trees, building thousands of parks across Israel, creating new communities and cities for generations of Israelis to call home, bolstering Israel’s water supply, helping develop innovative arid agriculture techniques, ensuring that no citizen is left behind by making parks and public spaces inclusive for people with disabilities and special needs and educating both young and old about the founding and importance of Israel and Zionism.
