(Courtesy of Union Y) The YM-YWHA of Union County, 501 Green Lane in Union, will hold the annual Raffle Gala on Sunday, January 14, at 6:30 p.m. It will honor 50 years on Green Lane and recognize all of the Y’s past and present leaders, visionaries and supporters.

This year, the Y will honor Stanley Fink, Esq. of Clark, New Jersey, with the Community Leadership Award, and William Goldfischer of Elizabeth with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Admission is $100 per person and entitles the holder to one raffle ticket. First prize is a trip to Israel including airfare and hotel, a $2,000 Visa gift card, or $2,000 in Y services. Second Prize is worth $1,000 and third prize is a $500 gift card to Shop-Rite or Seasons Kosher Supermarket.

The Israel trip at the Jerusalem Ramada Hotel is courtesy of the Halpern, Wilf, Pantirer and Zuckerman families. Proceeds all go to senior adults, youth, and camp scholarships. For all “Legacy” members, there will be a hospitality room set up at 6 p.m. in the Kirschenbaum Israel Center. For all others, the cocktail hour begins at 6:30, followed by an elegant, plated four-course dinner. A pianist will be providing light background entertainment.

The Y has a full Early Childhood Center including daycare; is a second home for seniors; houses close to 500 children in summer camp; and offers educational and recreational programs, events and classes for the entire community. It is one of the very few institutions left in our area that also serves the Observant communities of Greater MetroWest. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness center, glatt kosher kitchen, full size gymnasium and upgraded secure camp grounds are just a few of the amenities it offers.
