BPY’s Debate Team won multiple awards in last week’s Intra-Yeshiva Tournament of 32 middle school students. The resolution debated by BPY, Moriah, HALB and Yeshivat Noam was “Undocumented people brought to the U.S. before age 10 should be given a special path to citizenship upon turning 18.” The BPY Team, which consists of 22 students, is coached by parent volunteer, Cori A. Robinson and ELA teacher, Yair Vanunu. They meet at least once a week in school and then after hours, to research, write and debate in preparation for the various meets. Their hard work paid off with Eighth Graders Morris Harary and Noah Fulop winning First Place Speaker and Second Place Speaker (tie), respectively. Harary and Fulop also won First Place Team and BPY racked in the most points of any school, winning the award for Highest Scoring School. The other BPY competitors included Keshet Bellino, Breindy Staub, Allie Zisholtz, Sarina Ross, Mosie Harary and Sara Wenig, who each represented BPY with poise and excellence.
