Heichal HaTorah Visits Historic USS New Jersey

Heichal HaTorah’s ninth-grade class traveled to Camden, New Jersey to visit the historic USS New Jersey at the Battleship Museum and Memorial. The talmidim received an interactive tour of the most decorated battleship to have served in the US Navy, and one of the largest. Following morning shiur, the talmidim boarded the buses for the museum. Launched in 1942, the USS New Jersey is a tribute to the many soldiers who served during its distinguished career and is a striking feature of the beautiful Camden waterfront. The students explored its many rooms, climbed up and down the original ladders and gained insight into the roles and responsibilities of the officers and crew on board. This engaging and eye-opening experience provided them with a deeper understanding of the nation’s military history and a new-found appreciation for this piece of American history. After they visited Camden, the boys had an opportunity to unwind with a fun-filled stop at Urban Air, where they enjoyed an exciting and active break. The talmidim returned to Yeshiva after a memorable educational experience, enriched with a greater appreciation for the sacrifices made by military personnel in battle.
