JCOT Hosts Book Club Discussion

(Courtesy of JCOT) On Sunday, January 7, the Jewish Center of Teaneck’s Leaves of Faith Book Club had a lively discussion about Franz Kafka’s book “The Trial,” with Professor Sarah Rindner and Rabbi Daniel Fridman leading the discussion.

Though interpretations of the mysterious novel ranged widely, the participants agreed that there was great value in mining Kafka’s iconic work in a religious Jewish context.

The next installment of the Jewish Center of Teaneck’s Leaves of Faith Book Club will be Sunday, March 3, at 8pm, when “The Aleph and Other Stories” by Jorge Luis Borges will be discussed. Please note that only the stories that appeared in the original anthology “El Aleph” will be covered.

The book may be obtained from your local library or favorite book store. All interested participants are requested to read the book in advance.

The Jewish Center of Teaneck’s Leaves of Faith Book Club meets for stimulating and religiously inspiring and meaningful discussions about great literature.

The Jewish Center of Teaneck is located at 70 Sterling Place. The entrance is by the ramp on Sterling Place. For more information, call the office at 201-833-0515, email [email protected] or visit jcot.org.
