Moriah Marks Tu B’Shevat With Kandinsky Trees

Fourth grade students began their lesson by looking at examples of Kandinsky’s abstract works. Art teacher, Gila Bretter, related his art to Tu B’Shevat, the birthday of the trees, and that helped explain to the students the complex artwork of Kandinsky. Bretter further explained that Kandinsky was considered one of the first artists to use abstract art. Kandinsky’s concentric circles remain one of his most iconic works. He was heavily influenced by classical music such as Wagner, stating that “Music is the ultimate teacher.” Inspired by Kandinsky, the students created their own beautiful Kandinsky trees.
