The Modern Orthodox communities of the West Side of Manhattan and Northern New Jersey have announced a new initiative, making available dynamic new programs for matching young Modern Orthodox professional men and women between the ages of 22 and 32.
The initiative, spearheaded by Steve Eisenberg of Manhattan, has the support of numerous prominent families in the respective communities. Said Eisenberg, “I have devoted much of my life to the Jewish community and my priority today is to satisfy the crucial need of finding new outlets for bringing together Modern Orthodox men and women.”
Eisenberg believes 22-32 is the key age for bringing people together for a beneficial relationship leading to marriage. Eisenberg related, “As singles move past the age of 32 they tend to form less pliable frameworks in their respective lifestyles, making it more difficult to form serious dating relationships. The methods of matchmaking for the 32+ group are different and require much more intervention. We are trying to get more matches formed within a younger age group, thus allowing for more flexibility.”
Eisenberg and his committee are creating events that will attract Modern Orthodox/Modern Machmir men and women who are serious about meeting a mate and, at the same time, wanting to have a fun time. The events, produced in conjunction with Manhattan’s Lincoln Square Synagogue, JICNY, Hineni, SawYouAtSinai, YUConnects and Matched in the City, include live music, great food and drinks and fun entertainment
The upscale events will have in attendance top-notch matchmakers. Tova Weinberg, a well-known matchmaker, has given her full support to the project. She said, “I think what you are doing for singles is amazing and I want to help you the best way I can. Thank you for the opportunity.”
Two preview events were early sellouts, with guest feedback being overwhelmingly positive. Eisenberg further commented, “Most initial contact nowadays takes place online with little personal interaction; the need for high-end selective events allowing singles from diverse communities to come together is greater now than ever.”
The next event, which also promises to be a sellout, will be a pre-Purim bash at Lincoln Square Synagogue, located at 180 Amsterdam Avenue in New York City, on Motzei Shabbat, February 24. Included will be live music, an open sushi bar, desserts and drinks and a famous comedian. Pre-registration is a must, and registration requires approval.
