During the entire month of February, Moriah is celebrating Sephardic Culture Month. Teachers around Moriah will infuse their lessons with Sephardic culture from around the world. The students will also enjoy an array of delicious Sephardic dishes courtesy of the school’s talented kitchen staff.

Beloved art teacher Morah Gila has created an extensive Sephardic lesson plan for each grade. The students will create a beautiful chamsa and ornamental birkat ha’bayit, as well as learn about the Jewish Sephardic culture and art as a whole. By the end of the month they will have a deeper understanding of the difference between Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jewish art and culture.

This month, visitors to our lobby are treated to an incredible Sephardic exhibit on display, made up of Morah Gila’s private collection as well as art from Moriah’s very own students!
