Bruriah JHB Basketball Team Makes Its First Playoff

What do a great coach + 12 motivated girls + lots of practice + hard work equal? An incredible basketball season for the Bruriah Middle School basketball team! Eighth grader Mayan Kapustin, this year’s captain, said “We never thought we’d make it to the playoffs, but with dedication we actually did, and felt really good about it.” Of course with a record like that, you know there must be a great coach behind the scenes. Elisheva Kaplitt, seventh grader, said “Our coach always had us motivated and made us work hard.” Being part of a team is not only about basketball, as Rena Feder, seventh grader, said, “It wasn’t only fun playing, but it was great connecting with our teammates during practices.” Batsheva Marcus, middle school coach, mirrors the feelings of the girls. “I am so honored that I was able to coach this team. It is an amazing group of girls who worked hard every practice and every game. I’m so proud of them!” Athletic Director Susan Rifkin, expressed what parents and students have been feeling “Coach Marcus is a spitfire, who has infused her love of basketball and her passion for coaching our middle school into our basketball system to create a fun and dynamic environment in which the players can succeed. Congratulations to the JHB Lightning on making it to the playoffs!”
