(Courtesy of JCRC) One of the new projects begun by the Jewish Community Relations Council’s (JCRC) new director, Ariella Noveck, is its monthly Legislative Advocacy Day, when there will be the opportunity to visit the legislatures in the different catchment areas of the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey. This is advocacy at the state level, and members of the council meet prior to the meeting to discuss concerns to be presented to legislators. This week, the council visited Assemblyman Gary S. Schaer from District 36, who is the first and only Orthodox Jew to serve as a member in the assembly, and touched on the topics of Israel, anti-Semitism and seniors.
