Frisch Engineering Program Welcomes Special Guests

Students in Yeshivat Frisch’s engineering track welcomed back-to-back special guests at school last week. On Thursday, March 15, a delegation of Israeli high school students and cadets from Nahariyah’s specialized Shechakim and Mada’im V’Umaniyot schools spent half a day at Frisch. Together, students from the two schools worked on projects and got to know each other and hear about each other’s educational programs and extracurricular activities. The Israeli students were in New Jersey for one week as part of the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey’s Scott Pazer STEM Exchange Program.

Then, on Friday, March 16, the Frisch engineering students had the opportunity to hear from Micah Lemonik, a principal software engineer at Google. Lemonik serves as an engineering lead in the Google Apps group, and has worked on Google Docs and Google Drive. Lemonik spoke to the students about the fascinating world that is his career, discussed different elements of software engineering—from the technical aspects of software creation to researching and analyzing user preferences for new products—and conducted a Q&A with the students.
