Ben Porat Yosef third grade and kindergarten classes started spring planting by planting seedlings of kale, Chioggia beets and golden beets. These seedling vegetables will grow in the school’s Discovery Room under the students’ careful watch for 4-6 weeks, at which time the students will transplant them into the school garden to complete growing. Students also visited the outdoor garden and observed that the chives, strawberries, chamomile and garlic that they had planted were growing well. Students added a few layers of mulch to the garlic plants to help them get through the rest of the cold and snow.
