Every year, we end our Sedarim by singing with hope and enthusiasm “Next Year in Jerusalem.”

It is unquestionably a beautiful part of our tradition.

This year, when we come to the Seder’s conclusion, it will, in fact, be just the beginning. For this time we will be able to say “Next Year in Jerusalem” knowing that practically next month in Jerusalem, history will strike a stirring chord.

With the scheduled move of the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to its rightful place in Jerusalem, there is a bit of extra enthusiasm that can be part of our collective thought at Seder’s end.

We can thank President Donald J. Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Jason Greenblatt and Jared Kushner for making this failed campaign promise of immediate past presidential candidates of both parties come true. Last year when we completed our Sedarim we had no idea that the president would months later announce that all of Jerusalem was the undisputed capital of Israel.

Also, as well as the move of the embassy and the important Jerusalem announcement, we ready ourselves for the celebration of Israel’s 70th birthday. And to celebrate further, all signs point to the president’s decertification of a very bad Iran nuclear deal, a remnant of the Obama administration that endangers Israel.

We have so much to be thankful for as we approach Pesach in a matter of hours. From the U.N., where Ambassador Nikki Haley so beautifully represents the security of Israel to the White House, to the recently passed Taylor Force legislation, which will stop the payment of pensions to families of Palestinian terrorists, we are watching a government ridding itself of its Middle East political “chametz” and leaving the “Mitzrayim” of Iranian appeasement behind.
