TABC Prepares for Pesach With Students and Alumni

TABC spent the time before Pesach preparing for the upcoming chag in many ways. Aside from the learning in the daily shiurim, there were several special opportunities as well. A week before Pesach, TABC had a special pre-Pesach Parent-Son Learning night. After dinner, there was multi-generational chavruta preparation for the shiur, given by Rabbi Larry Rothwachs, the rabbi of Congregation Beth Aaron in Teaneck (and parent of sophomore Yisrael). Rabbi Rothwachs gave shiur on “Mitzvah Bo Yoter Mibishlocho: What baking matzah can teach us every day of the year.” It was a wonderful preparation for the sedarim which are primarily predicated on parent child learning.

Later in the week, the Tzurba D’rabanan shiurim had the zechut to hear a shiur on inyanei Pesach from YU Rosh Yeshiva Rav Baruch Simon. Rabbi Simon was the rebbe of many of the TABC rebbeim and it was a real privilege for TABC’s talmidim to be able to learn from their rebbes’ rebbe.

In a more hands-on opportunity, Rabbi Ari Zahtz brought his shiur to bake matzah. While they have surely eaten plenty of matzah in their lives, this was the first time for many of the students to see the finely-timed process of making it, firsthand.

Finally, the last night of the z’man featured a special Late Night Learning. The night began with a shiur from Rav Moshe Tzvi Weinberg, mashpia at Congregation Beth Abraham of Bergenfield, followed by a shiur given Rabbi Raphi Mandelstam. Alumni showed how they’ve grown as bnei Torah, giving chaburot to current students. Everyone was treated to Haggadah insights by the TABC rebbeim. The evening concluded with a siyum of Mishnayot Moed by Rabbi Ben Krinsky.

TABC was happy to say, “V’shavu Banim L’TABC!” The halls of TABC were filled with familiar faces, as many alumni returned to reconnect with their old classmates, rebbeim and teachers and hear shiurim from Rabbi Michael Hoenig and Rabbi Raphi Mandelstam. TABC is proud that its talmidim always feel like they can return home to its halls, no matter how many years have passed since they graduated.
