The Kushner Cobras track team placed another strong showing at the yeshiva league’s second meet of the season, on Sunday, April 29, at Red Hook Track.
Junior Andy Schnipper and freshman Maurice Koresh both won events. Schnipper finished first in the 400, while Koresh finished first in the 800. Koresh also finished third in the 400. Sophomores Jacob Elstein and Yitzy Peret were masters of the distance events. Peret finished second in the 3200, while Elstein placed third in the 1600.
Schnipper, Koresh, Elstein and Peret secured a second place finish in the 4×100 as well.
On the girls’ side, sophomore Nava Chefitz took home third in the long jump and second in the shot put. Freshman Leah Rubenstein placed third in the 1600 and second in the 800, while fellow freshman Ellie Coopersmith placed third in the 800 and second in the 400. The girls 4×100 team, led by Chefitz, Coopersmith and freshmen Chloe Katz and Yonit Salit placed third overall.
The team will look to duplicate its results in its next meet on Sunday, May 6, in Waldwick.
