This week’s spotlight game takes us to the Ma’ayanot High School gym, where teams Confie and The Jewish Link of New Jersey matched up for a motzei Shabbos game. Confie was coming off a close 59-55 victory over Lincoln Equities Group, and the Jewish Link squad were still savoring their come-from-behind buzzer beater win from the week before.

Confie came out shooting, sinking six 3 pointers in the first half (four by Yoni Rothberg and two for Ari Kaminetzky). The Confei outside shooting, combined with dominant post play from the Bin-Nun brothers, put The Jewish Link in a deep hole at the half.

With last week’s come-from-behind victory in mind, the Jewish Link team was not discouraged and came out in the second half determined to repeat last week’s magic. Yoni Mann exploded scoring 17 of his game high 23 points and it seemed like no one could stop him. One spectator commented “He doesn’t run he glides up the court” followed by a chant of “Who is the Mann!” However, the deficit was too large and The Jewish Link of New Jersey was unable to capture back-to-back miracle victories. The move of the game, goes to Confie’s Yonah Tarzik, with his mid air/behind the back/Jordanesque layup.
