Kushner Strikes Again in Track

This past Sunday, on May 6, the Kushner Cobra’s track team was truly unstoppable. They had an excellent performance at the yeshiva league’s third meet of the season hosted at Red Hook Track, in Brooklyn. Many of Kushner’s runners managed to finish their races in the top three showcasing an amazing meet.

Sophomore Yitzy Peret and freshman Maurice Korish finished second and third in the mile respectively. Peret finished with a time of 5:34 minutes, while Korish finished with a time of six minutes. Next, Peret finished second in the two-mile race with a time of 12:41 minutes, and senior Simon Engelsohn finished third with a time of 14:43 minutes. When Peret was asked how he felt the meet went he responded, “I had fun, I pushed myself and it paid off.” Buzzy Brickman finished third in the 200-meter dash with an outstanding time of 26.56 seconds. In boys 4×100 meter relay, Korish, Brickman, Simon Engelsohn and junior Andy Schnipper managed to finish third. Lastly, sophomore Jacob Elstein displayed an excellent performance in shot put finishing third with his best throw measuring 26 feet and 11 inches.

Freshmen girls Leah Rubenstein and Ellie Coopersmith along with sophomore Nava Chefitz finished first, second and third in the girls’ mile. Rubenstein, who finished first, had a time of 7:13 minutes. Coopersmith also managed to finish third in the 800. More so, the girls 4×100 team finished third. Lastly, Chefitz finished second in the long jump with a distance of 12 feet, while freshman Nechama Erps finished first in shot put with an outstanding measure of 17 feet and 3 inches.

The team is looking forward to competing at the championship meet coming up in several weeks where they aspire to showcase another excellent performance, and hopefully they will conclude the season successfully.
