JKHA Team Is Finalist in National Thomas Edison Pitch Contest

Four JKHA eighth grade students of the “Go Green with STEM” club were chosen as finalists in the Thomas Edison Pitch Contest. This contest is organized by Pico Turbine for all middle and high school students to promote innovation among young minds. The students chose to work on a global problem that was directed toward access to clean water using non-renewable resources.

Under the guidance of Sri Sundaram, the students made a three step machine. The first step of the machine is powered by a windmill that would help draw water from a water source and the second step is filtration of water using a bio-friendly water filter. The final step of the machine is powered by a solar panel to indicate the filtration of water and the level of water in a container—designed to avoid wastage of water. The students were hard at work right from the beginning of the project and were thrilled to be a part of it. They have now reached the finalist level, where they will be presenting their pitch and responding to a set of questions raised by a panel of judges at the Thomas Edison lab in West Orange.
