Election Roundup: Teaneck Township Council Elects Katz, Rice, Kaplan and Dunleavy

On Tuesday, May 8, the Teaneck community voted to re-elect Elie Y. Katz and Gervonn Romney-Rice to the Teaneck council, and sent two newcomers, Keith Kaplan and Jim Dunleavy to fill the other seats. Incumbent Alan Sohn lost his seat, and Chuck Powers and Clara Williams were not elected.

In other county news, Fair Lawn Mayor Lisa Swain has stepped down to take a seat in the State Assembly. Along with Chris Tully, a former Bergenfield Borough Council president, they will be sworn in on May 17 to fill seats vacated by Joseph Lagana and Tim Eustace. Lagana resigned from the Assembly to replace Sen. Bob Gordon, after Gordon resigned his seat to become a member of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. It was announced in April that Eustace was resigning. He took a job as deputy director of North Jersey District Water Supply Commission.
