Senior Sessions Bring RKYHS Seniors Unique Programming

Seniors at RKYHS have been participating in senior sessions, a participatory, carefully crafted, educational program that is an ideal capstone to their high school experience. From engaging presentations and conversations from experts on a wide variety of topics, members of the Class of 2018 had the opportunity to appreciate their last days of being part of an engaged RKYHS education with their friends and teachers.

Some trips included a guided tour of One World Trade Center and visiting the 9/11 Tribute Center and memorial fountains, where students appreciated the depths and perspective of the memorials. Students also toured Ellis Island and visited the Museum of Jewish Heritage.

Students also heard from many practical and inspirational speakers, among them: Toastmasters Club conducted a workshop on the art of public speaking; Gramercy Protocol led a session on social etiquette skills and how to make the best impression; Two survivors of the deadly Seton hall dormitory fire spoke about finding motivation to overcome obstacles in life; Adam Wolf, a social media consultant, spoke about maintaining appropriate social media etiquette and how to utilize it to your benefit; The Family Service League of Essex County presented on sexual violence on college campuses today; Shalom Task Force, the last session, discussed warning signs of domestic violence, what to do if you find yourself in a compromising situation and how to seek help for yourself or others.
