(Courtesy of Yeshiva University) The Yeshiva University Women’s Organization (YUWO) will hold its annual benefit gala on June 13. Participants will attend a luncheon at the Grand Tier at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center on West 62nd Street. This will be followed by a performance of American Ballet Theater’s Romeo & Juliet.
YUWO will honor Arlene Fox for more than two decades of service to the organization as a board member and active volunteer. She will be accepting the award in memory of her late husband, Moshe Yehuda Fox, z”l. In addition to being active in YUWO, Fox held presidential and vice-presidential positions in Emunah of America for almost half a century. She is also a member of the Zionist Organization of America, America for a Safe Israel and the Kingsway Jewish Center, to name a few of the organizations she supports.
YUWO was founded in 1924 to raise funds to build the first student dormitories, and their mission of providing food, clothing and funds for the students’ personal welfare has continued until this day. The President’s Society for Torah Chesed Endowment Fund provides monthly stipends for undergraduate students with financial needs not covered by scholarships, including food, clothing, textbooks, healthcare and more. YUWO also supports educational programs on campus, shabbatons throughout the year, the Torah Chesed Counseling Center Fund for medical and counseling needs and general scholarship support.
