RKYHS freshmen Jacob Colchamiro and Eli Novick were top scorers in the Yeshiva University Bronka Weintraub Bekiut Program, learning the entire Masechet Ta’anit. The students took five tests on the material, with Colchamiro tying for the number one spot in the daf category in this nationwide competition of 430 students. Novick placed as the second freshman nationally after Colchamiro in the daf category. The YU High School Bekiut program enhances textual skills of students across the country.
The students made a siyyum on the entire masechet upon completion, in front of all of RKYHS. Novick learned the last lines of the masechet and Colchamiro recited the hadran.
In reflecting on his students’ accomplishments, Rabbi Yosef Sharbat remarked, “I am so proud of Jacob and Eli. They are dedicated students, made the bekiut a top priority of their studies and, above all, truly enjoyed the learning.”
