Happy Summer From the Kids: An Open Letter to Teachers Everywhere

Dear Teachers,

Thank you for being such phenomenal teachers; we had such a wonderful year together and you have all gone above and beyond your responsibilities in every possible way, ensuring the most wonderful school experience. I enjoyed every single day at school! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for that, and I am forever grateful.

Now, I have one little problem and that is called “krowemoh.” Now you may be wondering what that is, so let me introduce the subject.

First of all, I love learning about new things. My thirst for knowledge and my curiosity of the world is intense. However there is one thing that seems odd and “backwards” to me. (hint: read the word backwards)

We live in a world where many adults struggle with work/life balances. One of the best things school can teach us is the importance of proper work/life balance. A great way to start would be to designate the school portion of the day for “work” and the home portion of the day for, just that: “home.” Combining the two together is how the monster “Homework” was born.

Today I came home from school with an assignment asking me to write what similarities I have with Malala. So here is my answer. Malala fought for underprivileged children who are starved for an education, and I am writing this to help children who are so overfed and stuffed with too much education that they vomit and begin to hate all forms of learning.

So please do not send me home with pounds and pounds of work to do over the summer. To all the kids out there suffering, please know you are not alone; we can do this! Shout as loud as you can: “NoMoKroweMoh!”
