STEM Faculty Funding to Nonpublic Schools Is Critical

Last week, I had the opportunity to hear Assemblyman Gary Schaer (D-Passaic) speak to a group in Fair Lawn and he reiterated the importance of voting and making our voice heard. Assemblyman Schaer recently brought our key issue of equitable funding of our children to the forefront in the state Legislature. But that is not enough; our community must come together, so that the entire NJ Legislature can hear our voice.

There is a critical bill on the floor that would allow the State to reimburse nonpublic schools for the cost of qualified teachers in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics courses. This STEM bill is a crucial component of our lobbying in Trenton, along with Security Funding parity. Our STEM reimbursement bills, S2660/A4098, must now be posted to the agendas of full Senate and Assembly for votes this week. Please join me and the other Teach NJS activists across New Jersey working towards a better future for our children. Our community cannot be complacent, we must act now. Contact your local legislators, specifically your New Jersey State Assembly member and State Senator.
