The entire ninth grade spent an amazing day at Camp Ramah in Nyack earlier this month. They began the process of getting to know one another and bonding as a grade—starting with a huge grade-wide circle for an icebreaker called “The Rain is Falling” and continuing throughout the day with many fun activities. They played dodgeball, worked on chesed packages for Project Sunshine and created a Coat of Arms with each advisory depicting their shared values, goals and favorite things. After a delicious barbecue lunch, Amanda Klatt and the 12th grade “Senior LEADers” led sessions of Torah learning focused on our role as humans in this world based on the different creation accounts in the parsha that week. The students then spent some free time just hanging out in the beautiful weather and davening Mincha together, and then took a short ride over to Bounce to end their day doing jumps and flips while continuing to make new friends. They all enjoyed hearing a dvar Torah from Gilly Leibowitz about bringing Torah values to life as modeled by Hashem creating the world. Thank you to the student activities team, the tech team, administrators, advisors, Beit Midrash fellows, senior LEADers and other ninth grade teachers who were all there to make it a fantastic day for the class of 2022.
