Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

TABC’s Freshman Frenzy and Welcome Back Shabbaton Form Bonds

Freshman Frenzy was jam packed this year! The fun began as students lined up to board the buses while senior mentors treated them to a healthy, pre-frenzy pump-up. The drive to Bowler City flew by in no time and the boys were rolling right away. They smiled and laughed and cheered and stood in awe as Dr. Prager’s superb technique humbled everyone. After a scrumptious pizza feast, rebbeim and teachers joined students for an outing to New Roc City! After arcade games and an intense game of Laser Tag which brought out the commando in everyone, students relaxed with a tamer round of mini-golf. They couldn’t believe this much fun was packed into one day, but then again we’re ALL IN at TABC!

The next day, for the first time in TABC history, the entire student body united to experience a weekend retreat together. Immediately after dismissal on Thursday evening, students enjoyed a Carlos and Gabby’s dinner and received a brand new TABC sweatshirt. The students then enjoyed a night of fun at Aquatopia Water Park before travelling to Camp Kaylie. In addition to enjoying sports and games, a group of students were led on a tour of the Camp Kaylie eruv by Rabbi Jachter in order to inspect it. Hundreds of voices then united for an inspiring kabbalat Shabbat led by Yonatan Katz ‘19. Students were able to choose from a variety of shiurim after the Friday night meal and enjoy a ruach-filled oneg. Throughout Shabbat, the entire yeshiva simply enjoyed spending Shabbat together as one school. Shabbat concluded with an inspirational speech from Rabbi Steven Finkelstein in addition to beautiful zemirot. After Shabbat, Rabbi Jake Berman led a musical Havdala followed by a melava malka. Students returned home exhausted and inspired after having experienced an unforgettable welcome back shabbaton.
