Friendship Circle Walk Builds Community

Thousands expected for the annual fun day in support of children with special needs.

(Courtesy of FC) This Sunday, October 28, thousands of people from across the region are expected at the newly built LifeTown for the annual FCwalk. The highlight of the fun and friendship day is a 1-mile walk to create a greater acceptance and understanding of the unique needs and the unique gifts of people with special needs.

This year’s event is being presented by RWJBarnabas Health and will include a Friendship Fair with inflatable rides, a virtual reality arcade, batting cages, petting zoo and a BMX Bike Stunt Show.

“Every year we look forward to welcoming old friends and making new ones at FCwalk,” says CEO Rabbi Zalman Grossbaum. “Now that we are back in our permanent home, LifeTown, we are even more excited to welcome the community to join us for this fun-filled day.”

Funds raised help support Friendship Circle programs benefiting children and teens with special needs and their families, especially the expanded slate of programs that will be held in LifeTown.

More than 2,000 people attended last year’s FCwalk and even more are expected this year. FC families say that the turnout, which seems to grow each year, reminds them that they and their child are vital parts of the community.

Said Grossbaum, “By standing up and being counted at FCwalk you are sending a message of caring and friendship.”

FCwalk kicks off with registration at noon, and the walk begins at 1 p.m. The Friendship Fair runs throughout the afternoon. People are encouraged to create a walk team and help raise money. Learn more about the FCwalk and Friendship Circle at www.fcwalk.com or call 973-251-0200 for details.
