Time to Come Together as One Nation

OK, it’s over.

Finally.

These much-anticipated, often highly divisive, midterm elections have reached an end.

We know that many of our readers perhaps expressed a concern for these midterms more so than any other contests in recent memory.

We know that these elections were enough to sometimes cause friends to bite their collective lips.

It is time to take the best approach we can as Americans, and that is to come together as a united people.

There is so much we need to do to help our country move forward. We should take the angst that some had and turn it into a positive energy. Jewish Democrats and Jewish Republicans have so many shared priorities, be it our families, the care of our elderly, Jewish education and, of course, the safety and security of our beloved ancestral homeland, Israel.

With the disconcerting acts of anti-Semitism taking the lives of 11 Pittsburgh Jewish worshippers, not to mention more minor displays of vandalism and physical violence toward Jews, it is unarguably more important for blue Jews and red Jews to be colorblind.

Our priorities and our concerns certainly aren’t predicated on one day in November. No, there is much to say and do the day after and the day after that.

Please, we ask you with urgency that we come together and support our president, our governors and our locally elected officials. The country needs a time of healing, and we as a Jewish people should contribute to that cause.

We have so much in this country of which to be proud.

Now let us move forward, both Jewish Democrats and Republicans…together.
