On Sunday, November 18, Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey will host its annual Mitzvah Day. Mitzvah Day is a fall community event where families are invited to take part in projects that benefit those in need in northern New Jersey and Israel. This year we are expecting over 300 families to participate. Collections take place throughout October and November. On Mitzvah Day, volunteers participate in various activities that facilitate the distribution of donated items. Activities include sorting and packing children’s clothing to go to Israel, wrapping holiday gifts for seniors and creating memory books for Alzheimer’s patients, making toys for shelter animals and putting together smile kits (dental hygiene).
The schedule for the day is as follows:
Session 1: 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Session 2: 12:30-2:00 p.m.
The event will take place at the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, at 50 Eisenhower Drive, Paramus. For questions, contact Beth Figman, director of volunteer resource services, at 201-820-3947 or Felice Popper, event coordinator, at 201-701-4958.
