In order to impress upon students the importance of hakarat hatov and showing appreciation and giving thanks, every division in the school—the entire student body, faculty and administration—came together for a “Thanks for Giving” assembly where they showed their gratitude for Howard Plotsker, JKHA/RKYHS associate principal.
Rabbi Rubin introduced the program with a special tribute and video to thank everyone—from faculty, staff and administration, police and fire department, to the bus drivers, families who housed people and complete strangers, who were all involved in ensuring that our JKHA and RKYHS students were safe, warm (and fed) during the events of last Thursday’s storm. The assembly was the perfect forum to reinforce the importance of giving thanks and giving back.
Rabbi Rubin explained the crucial role Plotsker plays in handling every aspect of school life. Representatives from each division came up on stage to thank Plotsker for a different aspect of school like that he handles. The program set the perfect example to lead into the Thanksgiving holiday, leaving a lasting impression on the students about the importance of showing our appreciation.
