Frisch Ice Hockey Ties Nutley With Nine Seconds Left

Noah Petak scored two goals, the second, with only nine seconds remaining as Frisch tied the favored Nutley-Columbia team 2-2. Frisch took an early 1-0 lead on the opening shift but missed numerous opportunities to increase their lead. The score remained that way until Nutley finally broke through with 3:30 left on a goal by Chase Nicoletta to tie the game. Nutley briefly went ahead on a goal by Joe Mellilio with just 1:02 left to play. Then, with the goalie pulled for an extra skater, Petak fired the puck home through traffic from the high slot, earning Frisch a big divisional point. Jake Fromen assisted on both goals and Judah Volodarsky and Aryeh Bloom also had assists. Sammy Volodarsky finished with 19 saves battling invaders of his goalcrease all evening.

With their 3-1 win over Dayton this past Monday night, the Cougars are now 1-0-1 and next face Nutley again at Codey Arena in West Orange next week.
