The Chanukah spirit was felt all week long in JEC through many different exciting events and activities.
Each morning began with an uplifting davening filled with excitement and song. The chagiga on Tuesday saw much spirited dancing and the celebration of our talmidei hachodesh. Students from all grades danced with their rebbeim to the rocking music of the Yossi Newman Orchestra.
After a short break the students and faculty packed the gym for the annual rebbe-talmid basketball game. Both teams were fighting for victory and bragging rights and the game was a loud, furious battle. The lead was taken early by the students and never surrendered. The final outcome, 50- 46, left tired rebbeim and victorious students…until next time.
Thursday saw an intense privilege Chinese auction with students buying raffle tickets to win incredible prizes offered by the administration, teachers and rebbeim. Some prizes included Shabbat visits, Devils games, free parking spots, group hitbodedut in the mountains sessions and many, many more! It was so much fun to participate in the ticket frenzy, as thousands of tickets were being put into each prize bin. JEC thanks all those who participated in raising over $2500 to the scholarship fund.
The best part of Chanukah at JEC took place at night. Every student had the opportunity to spend time with the rebbeim and their families. They lit menorah together, had great food, shared Divrei Torah, played games and sang the night away. Many students commented how special it was to be with their rebbeim, in their homes, on Chanukah. These are the moments that memories are made from.
