Last week, as December 31 approached, generous Teaneck donors sifted through their closets anxious to clean out before the end of the fiscal year. The bags of clothing that are too tight, too big and just don’t fit right quickly piled up in the Yad Leah drop-off site located in a private garage on Rutland Ave. As the donations came in, the front of the garage quickly filled up, leaving no room to fit any more donations. With threatening rainstorms above, the home owners and managers of the site grew concerned that the clothing would be ruined unless they could quickly find a solution.
With one call to Heichal Hatorah, the problem was solved. With the encouragement of Rosh Hayeshiva Rabbi Aryeh Stechler, the talmidim sprang into action. With a little bit of sweat and muscle, the boys, together with Rabbi Shimon Kronenberg, happily moved all the bags knowing that their efforts would enable more giving and chesed in klal Yisrael. They then headed back to the beit midrash to continue their learning.
