(Courtesy of Kaplen JCC on the Palisades) Parents who are looking for a fun and innovative program for their little ones are welcome to attend a free open house at the Leonard and Syril Rubin Nursery School at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades on Friday, January 18, 9:15-10:30 a.m. Participants will have the opportunity to join in the school’s weekly Tot Shabbat program and then receive a tour of the school, which offers a warm, child-centered, progressive curriculum rooted in Jewish values that encourage children to become confident, responsible and successful learners by exploring new concepts in a fun and nurturing environment.
“Our hope is to inspire young learners with a lifelong love for learning, and parents who attend the open house will see this process in action,” says Devin Zukofsky, the school’s director. “Every child has a unique set of talents, interests and learning styles, so in addition to providing a solid academic curriculum, we like to nurture creativity so our children can learn to explore, question, think and experiment with joy and confidence. It is such an important time in a child’s overall development and we feel honored to have them in our school where we can help shape who they become and how they see the world.”
The school’s core curriculum features exposure to reading and math readiness skills, logical thinking and problem-solving skills, social and emotional growth, fine and gross motor skills, sensory experiences, Judaic programming, art, music, dramatic play and cooking, gym and swimming, preparation for kindergarten and beyond. By learning through doing, each child establishes a strong sense of self and accomplishment and engages in a nursery school experience that will give them valuable tools for their continued educational success.
The Leonard and Syril Rubin Nursery School is a state-licensed, accredited program that provides unique, multidimensional activities for 3-month-old to 5-year-old children. To meet the varying needs of individual families, the school offers half-day, full-day, and extended-day (7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.) options. The experienced, professional staff works closely with each child to promote his or her social, emotional and intellectual development.
The open house will offer families a great opportunity to learn more about the school; meet its caring, professional staff; and see the classrooms in action. Registration is now open for the 2019-20 school year. To register for the open house or for additional dates and times, visit jccotp.org/nsopenhouse.
