Frisch Ice Hockey Knocks Off West Orange to Earn First Round Playoff Bye

Jake Fromen scored a first period hat-trick to lead Frisch to a 4-2 victory over West Orange at Codey Arena Monday night. West Orange would come back with two goals in the second period by Dave Campbell to make it close, but Frisch dominated with 35 shots on goal and almost as many that missed the target. Noah Petak scored to seal the game with 4:28 left. Both Fromen and Petak delivered tremendous bone-crushing body checks all evening (rattling the inhabitants of the nearby Turtle Back Zoo), as the Cougars slowed down the potent West Orange attack limiting them to just 17 shots on goal. The victory leaves Frisch with a 5-1-2 (12 Points) divisional record, good for second place and a first round playoff bye. The Cougars finish out their regular season with a non-league game vs Tenafly High School Saturday night at Mackay Park, before the playoffs begin later next week.
