In the spirit of Adar, students in Bruriah’s middle school shared their simcha by spending a day doing chesed in Lakewood. The students used Assistant Principal Zehava Greenwald’s house as command central to prepare flowers and package bags for the children at the School for Children with Hidden Intelligence (SCHI). Student Ariella Lev couldn’t believe how quickly they packed all 250 bags, “It was great teamwork for a great reason.” After preparing packages for seniors and students with special needs, the students spent a good part of their time at SCHI and got a tour of the wonderful opportunities available to the students there. Teachers from SCHI shared personal experiences about working with students with special needs and how it has changed their lives. Student Mattie Rose Fooksman said, “After a day like today, I realize how lucky I am.” Bringing simcha to seniors at the Leisure Chateau Nursing Home was meaningful. The residents enjoyed the lively Purim entertainment and the beautiful display of fresh flowers they gave them. A special part of this visit was when the students met the great-grandmother of their schoolmates Maayan and Avital Schlissel.
